In general, polymers are formed through one of the following three bases, namely printing, extrusion, or pouring. These three techniques are carried out at temperatures lower than those needed to form a steel, aluminum, or glass. On basic printing there are 2 types:

Print compression

Print compression is to use pressure and heat to suppress the liquid polymer which is poured into the mold form. Usually more often used in thermoset polymers

Print injection

Injection molding usually uses thermoplastic materials. A hydraulic ram and conveyor belt are used to feed the polymer into the mold. So injection molding is generally faster than compression printing.
